Meet the Team at Smart Dental Care

Joanna Lowe – Dental Surgeon

For the past four years she has been a co-owner of Mornington Dental and now Jo and her team have moved to the new larger premises at 161 High Street. Jo practices preventive dentistry – which means doing everything possible to heal the tooth rather than drill, followed by doing everything possible to establish a healthy well balanced oral flora that will support the teeth and gums long term. When sheʼs not at Smart Dental Jo is being a wife and a mum to her two amazing boys, and whenever possible, getting out on her mountain bike. Jo helps teach paediatric dentistry at the Dunedin School of Dentistry and is a member of:
  • New Zealand Dental Association
  • The New Zealand society of Endodontics
  • Australian and New Zealand Society for Paediatric Dentistry

Jo also provides preventive treatments such as sealants and anti-bacterial treatments as well as whitening treatments. Jo spends a good deal of her time on various sidelines supporting her children, and occasionally manages to get out mountain biking and skiing.

Clients Say

I have been receiving dental treatment for 54 years and I have always been very nervous about dental appointments until recently when Jo became my Dentist. Her professional, understanding and gentle manner plus her ability to deliver pain free treatment has meant that I am no longer reluctant to seek help or treatment.Without hesitation I would highly recommend her.
It's all true.... no lies ... not even a tiny little white one and I can now say that I almost enjoy visits!! I'm so glad that she's moving within the Dunedin area and not going to Russia because that would to far for me to go for appointments on a regular basis.
